Undoubtedly the most collosal hip hop album of 2008 so far, Lil' Wayne remains atop the SoundScan album charts with Tha Carter III, scanning an incredible 1,525,516 copies for the week ending June 29. Multi-platinum status cannot be too far from the New Orleans, Louisiana native.
R&B star Usher has fallen from his former #1 spot to what would be considered a disappointing #8, moving 805,856 copies of Here I Stand.
Meanwhile, some past releases are proving their staying power, continuing to make a mark on the SoundScan charts. Alicia Keys' fourth studio release As I Am, which was originally released in late 2007, is holding down the #4 position, selling 986,275 copies. One step ahead of Keys, E=MC2 is proving to be a winning formula as Mariah Carey's latest remains at #3, moving 1,063,439 units.
