Hip Hop icon and mogul Jay-Z has a new challenge ahead of him, as he is now facing an $88 million lawsuit, which was filed in May by former boxer/rapper/lawyer Mitchell Rose.

Rose is claiming that he gave the former Def Jam prez a demo tape of his music following a March 2001 boxing fight. A short time later he says that he heard the Brooklyn MC using his style which he calls "whisper rapping" without his permission. The former boxer believes that his musical career was derailed, while Jay-Z profited and furthered his own career.

"I saw Jay-Z as we were leaving the arena after the fight, I gave him my tape, and asked him to listen to it," Rose said in a recent statement. "He took the demo with him and shortly after that he began using the whispering (which he now frequents) in his songs."

With the case still pending, Jay-Z's camp have yet to respond to the allegations.

Meanwhile, Atlanta-based Hip Hop star Young Jeezy is the latest to venture into online marketing, launching the social networking site USDA2Day.com this past Wednesday (June 11).

Referring to it as "the official media source for the hood", the site will have social networking capabilities (including blogs), along with the latest breaking news, brand new music, tour dates and video footage from Young Jeezy and the artists signed to his Def Jam-backed label CTE. USDA2Day will also serve as a resource for parents, helping to find missing children in a section which will feature information from missingkids.com.

The CTE label are also preparing to release the debut album from Blood Raw, My Life The True Testimony, which is due to be released on June 17 through Def Jam/CTE. The album's lead single is Louie Bag, which features Young Jeezy.

The "snowman" himself is currently working on his highly anticipated third studio release. Before the album's release, the new mixtape The Prime Minister will be made available for free download via USDA2Day.com from June 14.
