Daddy Yankee Backs McCain

Despite receiving an overwhelming amount of support from artists in the urban community, including Nas, David Banner, Diddy, Lil' Wayne, Jay-Z and Young Jeezy, Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama cannot include Daddy Yankee among them.

The Reggaeton superstar surprised many earlier this week when he endorsed Republican Senator John McCain during a visit to a high school in Phoenix, Arizona. Speaking to the students, Yankee noted that McCain is "a fighter for the Hispanic community."

Fellow Latino music star Fat Joe, however, was quick to voice his disappointment with Yankee's Presidential choice in a recent interview with MTV News, branding him "a sellout," saying that he felt sick upon reading the news of Yankee's political leaning.

"The reason why I called him a sellout is because I feel he did that for a [publicity] look, rather than the issues that are affecting his people that look up to him. How could you want John McCain in office when George Bush and the Republicans already have half a million people losing their homes in foreclosure? We're fighting an unjust war. It's the Latinos and black kids up in the frontlines, fighting that war. ... We over here trying to take the troops out of Iraq and bring peace. I feel real disgusted that Daddy Yankee would do that."

Fat Joe
has reportedly challenged Daddy Yankee to a debate over which candidate truly has the concerns of the Latino community at heart. No official reponse has been released in regards to the debate challenge as of yet.
