Method Man has joined the cast of Hunting and Fishing, a spoof of the hit movie 300. The movie is being produced by writing duo Jason Friedberg and Alan Seltzer, who have penned such spoofs as Date Movie, Epic Movie and Remembering the Titans On Any Given Sunday Gives Me The Varsity Blues. The movie also stars Jim Piddock, Kevin Sorbo and Tim Connolly. The movie recently started shooting in Louisiana.
Snoop Dogg has been tapped to host the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 1st in Munich, Germany. Acts that will perform during the evening include Foo Fighters, as well as British pop singer Mika. According to reps, this year MTV is introducing a new category to "decide the New Sound of Europe." Fans will decided and vote what artist was the breakthrough act is on the continent.
Ja Rule was expected to return with The Mirror in September, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer as its release date has been pushed back. Now slated for sometime in November, the album's first leaked single was the Lil Wayne assisted Uh Oh. According to Rolling Stone, Ja also has a collaboration with The Game on a track called Sunset. The Game first reached out to Ja for his One Blood remix last year, and now Ja Rule hollered right back. Also on the album is producers Erick Sermon and Ty Fyffe, who both produced tracks on Ja's debut, Venni Vetti Vecci as well as producers 7 Aurelius and Chink Santana.
Russell Simmons has stepped down as CEO of Phat Fashions, the company he founded in 1992, that launched the popular Phat Farm brand of clothing. Simmons sold Phat Fashions to Kellwood for $140 million in cash in January of 2004, but stayed on as CEO, managing the day-to-day operations of the company including the marketing of the Phat Farm and Baby Phat lines of clothing and the company's various brands.
