Lil Boosie will provide winners with child care tuition as well as a pampers care package and a copy of his new CD Bad Azz. The good cheer is his way of giving back to his community during this time of the year.
A bus carrying Definitive Jux's The Coup, Mr. Lif, DJ Big Wiz and others crashed approximately 40 miles outside San Diego, California. According to the label, the tour bus flipped over during the collision, bursting into flames. Fortunately, everyone on board the bus managed the escape, most with minor injuries, but DJ Big Wiz, Zarha (Mr. Lif's assistant) and Silk-E (The Coup) are currently being hospitalized for more serious injuries.
JAY-Z has scored his ninth # 1 entry on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart with the release of KINGDOM COME. His newest chart topping debut ties him with the Rolling Stones for most # 1 albums behind the Beatles (19) and Elvis Presley (10). KINGDOM COME was the top selling album, across the board, moving 680,000 copies in its first week.
Apparently, Dr. Dre has settled on a release date for his highly anticipated album, Detox. In a video clip doing the rounds on the Internet that features Dre, the producer and his protégé Bishop Lamont reveal that the album will be released in September of 2007.
Two-time ARIA Award winning hip hop maestros Hilltop Hoods are set to release the 3rd single off their recent #1 album The Hard Road. What A Great Night, the track that every party loving Australian can associate with, will be released as a CD single and 12" on the 2nd of December. The CD single and 12" will both contain the original track, radio edit, instrumental, as well as a number of remixes (with radio friendly and instrumental remixes) from fellow Certified Wise Crew member Simplex and F & d (Funkwig and deNorthwode), each putting their unique spin on the track.
Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg have announced dates for a 10-city tour of Canada, that starts January 12. The two legends of rap will hit the road and visit cities like Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and other during the outing.
After exploring ways to enhance academic course offerings by including courses that focus on Hip-Hop, Howard University recently unveiled three new Hip-Hop related courses in the spring semester of 2007. The upcoming classes are geared toward engaging undergraduate students in a critical analysis of Hip-Hop. Undergrad students will be able to enroll in “Hip-Hop and the African-American Experience” in the spring and next fall, the university plans to offer another new Hip-Hop course titled “Black Youth and Hip-Hop” to students.
The Game is spreading a little Christmas cheer early to underprivileged youth in his native city of Compton, California. The rapper's Black Wall Street Foundation teamed with popular fashion designer and Ed Hardy clothing founder Christian Audigier to design original limited edition shirts. The stylish shirts will benefit Hands for Hope, a Los Angeles-based charity organization that believes enriching and rewarding experiences will challenge underprivileged students to make choices that will positively impact their lives. The custom shirts, valued at more than $80,000, will be given as gifts to foster children throughout Los Angeles, Compton and surrounding communities.
Nike hosted the 'One Night Only' celebration at Gotham Hall on December 10. During the celebration, rappers Kanye West, Nas, Rakim and KRS-One performed a new, Rick Rubin-produced song, dedicated to the sneaker. Rubin is well known for his wide range of hit productions, which include another sneaker anthem, Run-DMC's 1986 smash single, My Adidas. Guests expected to attend include Dave Chappelle, Charles Barkley, Queen Latifah, Spike Lee, Moses Malone, Usher, LL Cool J and others. The Air Force 1 sneaker has become a staple of fashion in the Hip-Hop community and has been the topic of several songs. The sneaker was created in 1982 and has remained one of Nike's top selling shoes for over two decades.
Black Jak has dealt himself a winning hand at urban radio, scoring the #1 Most Added single at the Urban Media base radio format, and the #2 Most Added song at Urban R&R with his new single Bobbin My Head. His debut features a host of production stars and guest artists, including DJ Toomp, Don Cannon and T-Pain, who lends his talents on Ball Out ($500).

Ahmet Ertegun, the co-founder of Atlantic Records, is in a coma after sustaining a serious injury to his brain after a fall. Ertegun, 83, lapsed into a deep coma, after he fell while attending a Rolling Stones concert. Ertegun is currently on life support at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. Ertegun founded Atlantic Records with Herb Abramson in 1947 with just $10,000. Ertegun, along with his brother Nesuhi Ertegun and Jerry Wexler, helped revolutionize popular music by releasing legendary artists like Ruth Brown, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Otis Redding, Led Zeppelin and Aretha Franklin. Atlantic has recorded and released numerous rappers over the years, like 2Pac, Lil' Kim, Sean "Diddy" Combs and T.I.
The late Proof will see the release of a new album next year through his Iron Fist Records. Time A Tell will feature 18 tracks written and recorded by Proof during a 24-hour period in January. The original member of D12 was challenged by his friend Julius Myers, known as DJ Jewels Baby, to write and record an entire album in a day. The disc will document the session at Myers' home studio in Detroit.
Diamond D. has revealed that Diggin' in the Crates is planning to release a new, untitled album. The New York-based group features Diamond D., Fat Joe, Showbiz, A.G., Buckwild, O.C. Lord Finesse and the late Big L. The group has become legendary for a slew of classic albums as a collective and as solo artists.
