With an illustrious career spanning over 18 years and album sales in excess of 200 million copies, Ice Cube is one of the most popular and influential rappers in the world. His unique story telling abilities and prophetic raps have made him a hip hop legend. Not only does he hold the title of one of the purveyors of hip hop, he is also a brilliant businessman who has successfully made the foray into movies as an actor, writer, producer and director. When rap exploded creatively and commercially in the late 80’s, Ice Cube was at the forefront of the expansion. As the lyrical brains behind N.W.A (a collaboration between himself, Dr. Dre, Eazy E and MC Ren), the Los Angeles based rapper instantly became a major player in the music game by leading a musical revolution. Their first album Straight Outta Compton gave Cube the opportunity to voice his social and political views, which were largely misunderstood by the media. The controversy surrounding the release did little to affect their popularity with the album selling millions of albums which was a first for the rap music genre.

In 1990, Cube made the decision to go solo and released one of the most groundbreaking albums of all time, AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted. He continued to use his music as a way to address social and political issues which always caused enormous controversy. Over the next 17 years, Cube went on to release a further 7 albums - each as brilliant as the next. His latest album Laugh Now, Cry Later features production from some of Hip Hop’s top producers including Scott Storch, Swizz Beatz and Lil’Jon, and boasts appearances from Snoop Dogg and WC. The album sees Cube settle back into his position as rap’s heavyweight champion showcasing his creative and lyrical genius.

Not only is Ice Cube one of the most successful rappers of all time, he has also had an extremely successful film career and become one of Hollywood’s most bankable actors. His starring roles in movies such as Three Kings, Are We There Yet, Barber Shop and the Friday series have made him an extremely popular actor.
