Having spent the last three years touring the globe and collaborating with some of the world’s most cutting-edge artists, Aussie legends Resin Dogs return to their mother country set to release their latest opus More in early November!
From the crew that helped put funk-filled hip hop on the local music map, the first glorious teaser from one of the most anticipated Australian record releases of the year is the single Coming with the Sound. It is a taste of the new album, which dishes up the kind of groove-drenched funk that’ll score a bullseye with head-nodders and dancefloor cats alike! To round off the cracking package, two other red-hot cuts from the album are included. Fat Cap features the mastery of Hau from Koolism and End Game with Blu Rum 13 who is DJ Vadim’s live MC.
Coming with the Sound came about after Resin Dogs had collaborated with Abstract Rude on a number of tracks and tours. During one of the tours Abstract Rude passed onto the band a copy of his current project with fellow Project Blowed members Mikah 9 and Aceyalone.
Resin Dogs really enjoyed the CD and asked Abstract Rude what would be the possibility of doing a track with Haiku d’etat. Abstract Rude expressed doubt as they were all working on solo records. The music was originally written in London in the Brad Baloo (The Nextmen) studios at the beginning of the More project. The next step for the track was to be recorded in Rocking horse studios in Byron Bay. Once the track was completed musically it was forwarded to Abstract Rude who was the first to record his vocals. After eight months of conflicting schedules, solo albums being released and much touring the vocals were finally competed. Coming with the Sound was born.
Dave Dog was in London working at the Baloo Studios in ‘05 and on one of his regular digging expeditions he ran into Vee from Kartel. Whilst chatting in the store they bumped into Blu Rum 13 the MC ‘distilled from the finest microphone juices’. Vee made the introductions and End Game is the end result of this chance meeting in London town. End Game was the first track from More to be completed and performed live and is a favourite on the European scene.
Having previously toured together, the Resin Dogs and Koolism’s relationship goes way back. When the original demo versions of the songs were compiled, a few tracks were sent to Hau to see if he would like to rap on any of the tracks.
Hau was invited to participate in the recording of More at Rocking Horse Studios in Byron Bay in June/July 2005. It was there that Hau laid down his vocals for Fat Cap. In one of those incredible music stories, Hau wrote the rap and recorded it in just one take in an amazing three hours.
