HIP HOP NEWS: New Mixtape to Pay Tribute to Tupac

As the anniversary of Hip Hop icon Tupac Shakur's death approaches, North Carolina's rising star Rain will be dropping the 7 Day Theory mixtape.

On September 7 the first track from the mixtape will be released to mark the day that Tupac was shot, releasing one song each day after for seven consecutive days, for free download. Then on September 13, the day that Tupac passed away, the entire 7 Day Theory mixtape will be up for free download. The first track to be released from the mixtape will be Troublesome '08.

"Tupac is still a big inspiration to me. He always spoke his mind on all issues whether it was music, politics or regular street stuff. He overcame so many obstacles right in front of our eyes and made history in the entertainment industry without losing his mind or his spirit. I created this mixtape to pay homage and show my respect for my black brother. He will always live on through his music and his family and we need to remember the day of his death no different from how we remember Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and all of our other black leaders. He was a leader of our generation. This mixtape consist of my views and my opinions on things that are going on. I am not in any way trying to emulate Tupac, I'm only paying homage." - Rain

Rain has recently appeared on BET’s Rap City, MTV’s TRL, the Source’s Unsigned Hype, Music Choice, various XM and Sirius Satellite shows, SMACK DVD and more.
