After a whirlwind of controversy and debate, it has been reported that the title of Nas' upcoming album (originally titled Ni**er) has been changed to the simple title of Nas.
While it has been reported that Nas himself chose to change the controversial album title, it has been rumored that there was possible pressure from several sources, including his home label, Def Jam Records (which is distributed by entertainment giant Universal Music).
In related news, the Queensbridge MC has revealed that he is working with acclaimed upcoming beat-maker Jay Electronica, who he calls "the future", after hearing his remake of the Nas classic The World Is Yours. Their first collaborative efforts are set to appear on Nas' new self-titled album, which is slated for release on July 1 2008.
Meanwhile, iconic rapper LL Cool J is set to make his debut to the mixtape scene with the new project The Return Of The G.O.A.T., in conjunction with DJ Kay Slay.
The mixtape is designed to create a street buzz for his upcoming thirteenth album, Exit 13, his last effort for Def Jam Records. It has been announced that Busta Rhymes will be among the guests appearing on the new mixtape. The Return Of The G.O.A.T. mixtape is scheduled for release in the next couple of weeks.
DJ Kay Slay is also currently working on his next compilation album, which is expected for release before the end of the year.
