Despite Lil' Wayne's controversial comments regarding mixtape DJs during an interview last week with Foundation magazine, Cash Money Records head, Ronald 'Slim' Williams, has stated that there are no plans to take legal action against the parties mentioned.

"It'll cost more for me to sue him and it's not worth it," Williams told Billboard, regarding DJ Empire's popular The Drought Is Over mixtape series.

The comments in question took place last week during an interview with Foundation magazine. When asked if he remebered the first mixtape DJ he worked with, Wayne went off on a tangent, voicing his distaste for mixtape DJs that attempt to cash in on his name. With many in the DJ community befuddled, Weezy appeared on DJ Drama's Serius Satellite radio program the Drama Hour to clear up the issue.

He specifically name-checked DJ Empire and DJ Chuck T for releasing numerous mixtape projects containing unauthorised material and illegal use of Lil' Wayne's image and likeness. He was quick to state that he has no issues with any other mixtape DJs, as long as they go through the proper channels and legalities before releasing a project.

"Wayne has spoken to him, so I don't know what's going on with that," explained Williams. "I think Empire said he has more music to put out. Most DJs are just local, so they're not making that much money anyway."

Predicting sales of over one million for Tha Carter III, which comes out on Tuesday (June 10), Cash Money Records do not believe that unauthorised mixtapes will affect album sales, despite the situation being described as "frustrating."

In related news, the track Tie My Hands (from Tha Carter III), a duet with singer Robin Thicke, has been selected as the theme song for the upcoming Hurricane Katrina-themed film Hurricane Season.

The superstar rapper, born Dwayne Carter, who originally hails from the devastated 17th Ward section of New Orleans, Lousiana, has a starring role in the movie. The cast also includes Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, Isaiah Washington (Romeo Must Die), Taraji Henson (Hustle & Flow) and fellow rapper Bow Wow.

Hurricane Season, which will hit theatres in the U.S. during Christmas, is directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Barbershop).

Hurricane Season tells the true story of five basketball players in Marrero, Louisiana from different high schools, who end up on the same basketball team one year after Hurricane Katrina. Under the guidance of coach Al Collins, the team lead their high school to the state championship game.

"With all the tragedy that my home has suffered these last few years since Katrina, I was glad to see that someone wanted to show that through everything New Orleans also has some positive things going on,” said Lil' Wayne. “I am also very happy that Hurricane Season is not only my first major part in a motion picture movie, but a movie about where I grew up.”

Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter III is out on June 10 through Cash Money/Universal Records.
