Wayne County Judge John A. Murphy has dismissed a $3 billion lawsuit which was filed against superstar producer Dr. Dre by three former City of Detroit employees.

The lawsuit filed by Greg Bowens (then-spokesman for former Mayor Dennis Archer), Paula Bridges (then-Police spokeswoman) and Gary Brown (former Police commander) claimed that a conversation with concert producers, which took place backstage at the Up In Smoke Tour in Detroit, was intended to be private and was filmed without their knowledge.

During the conversation in question, the city officials were talking to the concert producers of the Up In Smoke Tour requesting that a particular video (which included nudity) not be broadcast during the event, which was held in July 2000 at the Joe Louis Arena. The conversation was later included on the DVD release of the event.

Judge Murphy stated in his recent ruling that the conversation took place in an easily accessible room with an open door, so there were no grounds for their claims.

The legendary hit-maker born Andre Young had actually moved to dismiss the case in October, however at the time Judge Murphy, to the surprise of many, said that he was inclined to allow the the case to go to trial.
