EVENT NEWS: DJ Krush Set To Hit Melbourne

Melbourne, prepare to be Krushed.

Enigmatic yet prolific, Japanese Hip Hop stalwart DJ Krush is set to bless punters in Melbourne, Australia with his special blend of crossover magic.

A gifted DJ and producer, Krush’s style began developing with preeminent Japanese Hip Hop outfit Krush Posse in the late 1980s. After the break up of the band in 1992, Krush went solo – by being one of the first people in Japan to use turntables as live instruments Krush grabbed people’s attention quickly and his career soared.

Since then he has released eight solo albums and three DVDs plus worked with some of the biggest artists in the biz including DJ Shadow, Guru, Black Thought (The Roots), CL Smooth, Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock, James Lavelle and many more heavyweights.

With his rare composition of atmospheric sounds, astonishing cuts and Hip Hop know-how, Krush’s live show is something that needs to be seen to be believed.

To celebrate the release of his brand new DVD A History of DJ Krush: Ko-No-Michi Krush will be blessing the Prince Bandroom in Melbourne, Australia on Friday May 23rd.

Joining DJ Krush on stage in support will be Wellington, New Zealand based group Electric Wire Hustle. Creating a sound that fuses Marvin Gaye and Funkadelic with the likes of J Dilla and Sa-Ra this production trio will provide the perfect precursor to Krush, dropping tracks from their brand new EP The HustlDe.

DJ Krush will also be touching down in Canberra (ANU Bar), Sydney (Oxford Arts Factory) and Adelaide (Electric Lights Hotel) on his Oceania Tour.
