Acts calling off tours.. what is up with that!!??

After a few acts called off their long awaited tours in Australia I felt obligated to have a public bitch about the whole scenario. It made me think in the end, what really is the cause of a cancelled tour?

There are of course many potential reasons why promoters pull the plug, whether it is bad sales, lack of organization, low capital or maybe some sort of local bug outbreak. Why acts pull the plug is another part to consider – distrust in the opposite party, lack of advance payment or skepticism in the integrity of the deal. Another reason may also creep into their minds – sometimes they just can’t be bothered in the end or perhaps a better deal rolls up.

Now, I know a lot of acts are in the music biz for the paycheck at the end of the day but some just need to give back a little every once and a while. I hate to single out an act but Nas man what the hell made you cancel ya tour!? An artist of his caliber sure as hell doesn’t really need the money (money is his bitch right?) and I would imagine he has quite a team to support him.

Some acts just need to show their supporters some love regardless of how far away they are. Even just a quick visit or in store appearance would be appreciated. But really if an artist has been out for a while and reached a level of success such as Nas, wouldn’t you think ONE tour would be warranted?

I hate to come back to the Nas thing as there may have been legitimate reasons why the tour didn’t go through but damn, a lot of fans were let down. Some dudes just need stop thinking about the almighty dollar and tour just for the hell of it.

C’mon guys get the lead out and reach out a little more.

I will pay one way or another!
