Just when you thought we had enough sequels…along comes another one!
This time around it’s the sequel to the Gene Hackman/Owen Wilson 2001 vehicle, Behind Enemy Lines. The sequel titled Behind Enemy Lines: Axis Of Evil takes us within a team of U.S. Navy Seals assigned to destroy a North Korean missile site. Like the original film, the mission is called off half way through, and four soldiers are stranded in the barren landscape. Not only must they fight to save themselves, but they must also help save the world from the terror of a nuclear holocaust.
With a cast of newcomers, including Nicholas Gonzalez as Lieutenant Robert James and April Grace as Ellie Brilliard, it is indeed refreshing to have a whole new line-up on display. Sometimes it’s great to not have to deal with star power, as it can make the story much more believable, as recognition of the characters is simplified. The real problem is the script, as usual Hollywood producers are very happy to splurge on SFX, but not on a proper script, but if you go into this film with a solid grain of salt in your jaw, you will be able to enjoy this film for what it is, a run-of-the-mill action flick.
It may not win awards, but if you want to lose yourself for a couple of inane hours, then enjoy the Hollywood machine-created Behind Enemy Lines: Axis of Evil.
