Grammy Award winning superstar Eve will be touching down in Australia for the first time this April/May, with the Here I Am Tour.
The rapper, actress and mogul will be performing in Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. During her whirlwind down under experience Eve will also be gracing the stage at the MTV Australia Awards 2008 on April 26 in Sydney.
With four successful albums under her belt, countless guest appearances, an acting career and her own clothing line, the performer born Eve Jeffers has reached a plateau that many before her have not.
Growing up in Philadelphia, Eve began singing at a young age joining several choirs and groups. She later formed the all-female rap act EDGP, before going solo under the name Eve of Destruction.
With her name shortened to simply Eve, she got her first real break when she caught the ear of legendary hitmaker Dr. Dre, with the track Eve of Destruction appearing on the Bulworth soundtrack in 1998. The sizable buzz Eve garnered lead to appearances on the Ruff Ryders series of compilations, becoming a member of the powerhouse stable shortly thereafter.
Eve’s debut album came in the form of Eve… The First Lady of the Ruff Ryders in 1999. It was 2001 though that truly saw Eve’s superstar presence skyrocket, with the platinum-selling album Scorpion. More specifically the international hits Who’s That Girl and the Dr. Dre-produced Let Me Blow Ya Mind, which featured then-No Doubt member Gwen Stefani and garnered Eve a prestigious Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
2002 saw the continuation of her hit-making ways with the aptly-titled Eve-Olution, which featured the Alicia Keys-assisted single Gangsta Lovin’. While album sales fell below expectations the album undoubtedly increased her profile within the entertainment industry.
With her newly found visibility Eve set out to conquer other sectors of the industry, more specifically the world of film and television, starring in XXX with Vin Diesel, as well as Ice Cube’s highly successful Barbershop series and The Cookout with Queen Latifah and Kevin Bacon.
In 2003 Eve debuted her very own self-titled sitcom, which ran for three seasons on the UPN network (now the CW network). The multi-faceted star also launched her successful clothing brand Fetish.
Eve’s fourth studio album Here I Am is scheduled for release later in 2008. The lead single Tambourine has already established itself as a club favourite.
