Throughout the mid to late 90s, Dru Hill carved out a string of R&B hits like Tell Me, These Are The Times and How Deep Is Your Love. Def Soul’s quartet and later quintet lead by the flamboyant Sisqo have wowed audiences with a great physical presence and vocal intensity, and here we can see it clearly. The DVD contains 12 clips including several of Sisqo’s solo hits.
Tell Me is one of the first clips Dru Hill put together, and you can tell. Dance moves, set and wardrobe are all cringe worthy, but the song is sound. In My Bed is a much classier outing that features a more narrative style. However, I still enjoy the So So Def remix more and thankfully this is included as a bonus video. The clip is shot on a set that is half theatre and half Aztec temple (look out for a Montell Jordan cameo). Other nice bonuses include the custom play lists option and Sisqo’s Thong Song remix which features a thonged up fashion show.
The exclusion of How Deep Is Your Love is quite a black mark and I am not sure why it was omitted.Favourites include the Man In The Iron Mask inspired These Are The Times and the grimier looking, I Should Be. Like a lot of R&B groups, Dru Hill have the looks and ability, but it is easy to see why Sisqo went solo as he is the force behind much of the clips. Who knows what Dru Hill do next but regardless, any fan should pick this up. Dru Hill – The Hits album is also available.
